AN UNFORGETTABLE ENCOUNTER
November 22, 2006
It was Wednesday morning, and it seems like my back is glued to my bed. I'm too lazy to get up, but i have to. There's so many things that I need to buy for the next climb, along with some gifts and christmas cards in preparation for the Holidays.
My first agenda is to visit TREK in Quirino Ave, where I'm planning to buy a hydro pack and a cover for my backpack. It was my first time to visit the place, so I don't know what to expect. It turned out that it's just a small shop full of mountaineering gears. When I stepped into the shop, it was not the equipments that caught my attention, but the man on the phone. "Oh my God! I think I know this guy." I pretended not to notice him and look for some items that I could buy. After choosing a cover for my backpack and a hydro pack, I looked around to find a bush hat and a waist bag. Unfortunately, the bush hat is out of stock and the waist bag is too big.
When I was about to gather the items that I've choosen, the man on the phone approached me and said, "Ito ba ang bibilhin mong hydro pack (Is this the hydro pack that you want to buy)?", and I said "Yes." He got another hydro pack and hand it over to me, and said "Ito na lang, mas matibay 'to. (Choose this one, it's more sturdy)", I said, "Ito na lang po, tsaka na 'ko mag-iinvest sa gamit, beginner pa lang naman po ako. (This one would be fine since I'm just a beginner, I'll just invest on my equipments later on)."
